Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak

Firstly, I would like to thank my sister Jiaqi from Malaysian State of Sarawak, for sending me this nice postcard of Gunung Mulu National Park! This park is named after Mount Mulu, the second highest mountain in Sarawak and it is famous for its high biodiversity and karst features (actually it is the most studied tropical karst area in the world).
The Gunung Mulu National Park encompasses enormous caves, vast cave networks, rock pinnacles, cliffs and gorges. On the postcard, you can see some famous ones: Lang’s cave, Deer Cave and the limestone pinnacles of Mount Api. In 2000, the park was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I have a set of stamps “World Heritage Sites in Malaysia “issued in 2009, one of which exactly feathers the limestone pinnacles!
This postcard was sent on 25 July 2013, when Pos Malaysia issued a new set of stamps “Malaysian Salad” (thank you again Jiaqi :)). The new stamps and the special first day cancellations in Sarikei, Sarawak are much appreciated!
