Imperial City, Hué

Located in the center of Vietnam, Hué was the capital city of Vietnam for approximately 150 years during feudal time - the Nguyen dynasty (1802–1945). It was not only the political but also the cultural and religious centre of the country during that period. The city is well known for its historic places together known as “Complex of Hué Monuments” which was inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites list in 1993. The postcard shows the Gate of Noon which is the main gate to the Imperial City of Hué. The beautiful ladies dress Ao dai, a Vietnamese national costume original from the city in the 18th century. Many thanks to my friend Dao! Dao also used some beautiful stamps, including the one with Ao dai ladies, much appreciated!
