Western Wall, Old City of Jerusalem
The Old City of Jerusalem
is home to several sites of key religious importance: the Temple Mount and its
Western Wall for Jews, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Christians, and the
Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslims. It was added to the UNESCO
World Heritage Site List named “Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls” in 1981. I
would like to thanks my friend Oleg, for sending me
these three gorgeous postcards of the Western Wall! The stamps are awesome too, much appreciated !
The first one shows the Old City Wall and Citadel at night while the second depicts
the winter scenery. The last postcard is
regarding the Jerusalem Day, which is an Israeli
national holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem and the
establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in June 1967. You can see
many people dance with their national flags at the Western Wall at that day!
