Olomouc
is the sixth largest city of Czech Republic. It is a very famous historical tourist
attraction as the inner city is the second-largest historical monuments
preserve in the country, after Prague. Olomouc contains several large squares,
the chief of which is adorned with the Holy Trinity Column, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as "one of the most exceptional examples of
the apogee of central European Baroque artistic expression". Built in 1716–1754 in honor of God, the main purpose
of this Baroque monument was a spectacular celebration of Catholic Church and
faith, partly caused by feeling of gratitude for ending a plague, which struck
Moravia between 1714 and 1716. I am very pleased to receive the two postcards
from Olomouc,
sent by my friend Jitka, to show this gorgeous city. Apart from the Holy Trinity Column, the first
postcard also shows the city hall with astronomical clock on the left and
obelisk of the Triton’s fountain on the right. Some other important monuments
are depicted on the second one, for example the Hradisko Monastery and the
Saint Wenceslas Cathedral. Thank you very much Jitka! These postcards also remind me that Czech Post
issued an amazing engraved stamp for the Holy Trinity Column, as you can see
from the photo above. That is part of a first day cover franked with that stamp also
the Europa stamp 2012 “Visit Czech Republic” sent by my friend Radim, much more than appreciated
too!

Krumlov is a small city in the South Bohemian Region of
the Czech Republic. Old Český Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since
1992. Thank you very much my friend Lucy who sent me this gorgeous postcard
shows the Český Krumlov Castle under the sunset!
Prague is the capital and largest city of
the Czech Republic. It is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many
of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. Main
attractions, as you can see from this postcard, including the Prague Castle, the
Charles Bridge and its towers, Prague Astronomical Clock and St. Vitus Cathedral.
Since 1992, the extensive Historic Centre of Prague has been included in the
UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites . Thank you
very much Lucy for sending me this wonderful card from her hometown, I wish I
could visit this famous city in the future!
